Financial Assistance
The economic burden of childhood cancer can be overwhelming for parents.In a recent NCCS survey, over 89% of families reported income loss due to their child’s diagnosis. Parents are further challenged with maintaining their household, caring for other children, making medical decisions and ensuring financial stability all while trying to stay beside their child through this difficult time.
Eligibility Guidelines
- Child diagnosed with a pediatric cancer
- Child diagnosed with a high grade or anaplastic brain tumor
- Child diagnosed on or before his or her 18th birthday
- Child is a U.S. citizen or has maintained uninterrupted residency in the U.S.
- A family with liquid assets in excess of $5000 may be asked to partially or completely "spend down" these assets in order to receive financial assistance

Review your insurance policy to see if lodging, meals and transportation are covered. Ask for assistance from a case manager who can answer insurance-related questions.
For hospital expenses, speak to a financial counselor in the business office for developing a payment plan.
For difficulties with general living expenses, talk directly with your creditors. Many utility and mortgage companies will work out a payment plan.

A Yes. If your family continues to qualify for assistance, the NCCS will work with you throughout your child’s treatment. A social worker at your child’s treatment facility can provide you with the information you need to get assistance.
Q Does The National Children’s Cancer Society help with household expenses?
A No, NCCS does not provide assistance for household expenses.
Q How quickly can I get help?
A Assistance is typically provided within 2-3 weeks of sumitting a complete application.
